How Fashion & Finances Go Together

How Fashion & Finances Go Together

How Fashion and Finances Go Together in the Workplace

People who see you at work shouldn’t be distracted by your clothing, hair, or grooming; rather let them focus on your knowledge and talents.

Whether you enjoy shopping or hate it, everyone hates spending money frivolously or wastefully.   Yet you can’t walk out the door without clothes on.  Having a plan for purchasing them and being smart about it is long overdue!   Clothes can be expensive.  Don’t make expensive mistakes when you know how to make wise purchases and be 100% happy with them.

How is it possible? When are all the tempting store sales luring you in with bargains that may or may not be bargains?  How do you avoid the pushy salespeople with their own agenda and little knowledge of what really works for you?  How do you shop for yourself if time is scarce?

Managers and HR staff will be more likely be willing to schedule individuals who can manage their finances for a fashion budget and dress attractively. To participate in recruiting events, you shouldn’t have to worry a risk being embarrassed by inappropriate attire or grooming.

Gain Fresh Combinations for your Work Wardrobe

The late summer and fall season is traditionally a time when many business settings witness an influx of new employees, specifically young professionals, interns, and recent college graduates filling entry-level positions. With a hope to grow into an executive level job someday, I can help you gain new energy and experience dynamic and fresh combinations in your wardrobe.

If you are in a conservative industry, you might find it difficult as a younger and less experienced employee to make a smooth transition into a corporate setting. There are often challenges with setting into a new corporation and learning just how they interpret dress codes. You can skip some of the common struggles that others fact to properly craft their professional image.

As a professional image consultant I am able to help you with these challenges and make your experience a fun, educational and eventfully time.

Be Willing to Spending on Your Wardrobe: Fashion Faux Pas
Excuse Me...Your Slip is Showing

How many of you have that one friend that has some type of fashion faux pas, you want to tell them but you don’t know how? Or if you are tolerating them yourself while waiting for a bonus check or birthday, find a way to invest in your self and overcome these issues.

  • Bulging out of their tops,
  • Wearing tight pants with panty lines
  • Too short skirts
  • Bra straps hanging out
  • Too much make-up
  • Out of control hair
  • I find that the easiest way is to be upfront and honest with them:

Suzy, you are such a beautiful woman and I am so proud to be your friend. Would you trust me enough to give you some fashion advice?  (Hopefully, she will say yes, and then you can offer your suggestion in a nice gentle way.)  Those pants would look so much better on you if you wore an undergarment that would smooth out those lines.  And I love that top on you but it would look much better in a larger size to cover you up more.

    Team Up and Be Present

Additional Tip: Always offer to shop with them and fix things together so they don’t feel alone or picked on.

I’d love to hear from you: Has someone ever been a good friend and told you about a fashion faux pas? How did they break the news to  you?

“Individuals who present themselves in a neat and professional manner are perceived to be organized, intelligent and articulate. People with whom they come in contact won’t be distracted by their clothing, hair, grooming, etc. and will be able to focus instead on their knowledge and talents.” – Julie Becht, Freed Maxick CPAs
