Fashions are an investment, learn how to assess yours

Fashions are an investment, learn how to assess yours

Do you sometimes feel like you’re in a fashion fog? It could be time to assess your fashion entity.

Would you like to maximize your assets and minimize your liabilities? Would you like to find out if your fashion portfolio is diverse enough? Is your fashion investment accruing enough interest? With this five-point checklist, you’ll discover where your strengths and weaknesses lie and you can make a great first impression.

1. Are you utilizing your assets?

What are your most valuable assets that make your look unique? What are you working with – great curves, great legs, great cheekbones, great proportions? If you know what your assets are, you can make sound purchases that naturally highlight them. Assets change over time so be sure you’re focused on what’s working now rather than what’s worked in the past.

2. Is your inventory low?Invest in the right fashion statement

It’s really impossible to put great outfits together if your inventory is low. At the beginning of a fashion season (spring/summer or fall/winter) or to position yourself for a raise, take an inventory count. Do your clothes fit and flatter you? If the answer is no, then you need to do some restocking. Set aside some time for a thorough edit and create a list. If there’s inventory in your closet that’s not currently working for you, cut your losses. It’s time to write them off. Now schedule shopping time.

3. Are your liabilities handicapping you?

Here is a list of common liabilities:

  • Shopping for a lifestyle that’s no longer yours.
  • Giving up on shopping because there are too many choices and it’s overwhelming.
  • Inaccurate or out-of-date self-image.
  • Getting all your fashion advice from an opinionated friend or family member but never finding your personal style.
  • Investing in high-end fashion without a wardrobe plan.
  • Using shopping to fill an emotional void and never feeling satisfied.
  • Buying too many novelty pieces that don’t go with anything else you have.
  • Time to take note of your liabilities and take responsibility for them. Get out of your liability debt by getting help, making a plan, and breaking out of habits that aren’t benefiting you.

    4. Is your fashion portfolio diverse enough?

Smart investors have a diversified portfolio. Smart dressers have clothes for every part of their life. They aren’t just invested in one area of their life (like work clothes). A diverse fashion portfolio includes outfits for dressy parties, informal social gatherings, work clothes, weekend clothes, exercise wear and travel – just to name a few areas. Is your wardrobe not meeting your needs? There’s help for that.

    5. Are your fashion choices accruing interest?

Your fashion choices tell the story of you. You should be getting results from investing time and money into your wardrobe. Those results could include compliments, confidence, and feeling good about yourself. It could also result in a job offer, a promotion, a date, new opportunities. That’s the accrued interest you’re looking for.

If you fell short on any of these checkpoints, I’m here to help you grasp why executive pressense is critical to your carreer success!

I’ll be your fashion adviser. Don’t let any more time go by. I’ll ensure you’ll get the most out of your fashion investment. I look forward to working with you.  Dawn Stebbing (651) 307-0342
